What is a single dental implant?

A titanium implant replaces the lost root, an abutment connects it and a porcelain crown rebuilds the tooth. The restoration works independently, so the two neighboring teeth do not need to be ground down as with a porcelain bridge.
  • 1 implant replaces 1 lost root
  • Neighboring teeth are not used as supports
  • Porcelain crown matched to the color and shape of your arch

An independent restoration

Treatment is limited to the missing tooth site, preserving the surrounding natural tooth structure.

Designed around your bite

The crown's shape, contact points and chewing load are adjusted for each position.

Helps limit bone loss

The implant replaces the root and transfers chewing forces to the jawbone.

Easy daily care

Cleaning is close to that of a natural tooth, using floss or other tools as instructed.

Anatomy of a single implant restoration

Three tightly connected components restore everything from root to crown.

Porcelain crown

The visible part of the tooth, designed to match the color, arch shape and aesthetic goals.

Shape and bite

The chewing surface, height and contour of the restoration are adjusted to your individual bite.

Abutment

The connector that links the porcelain crown to the implant post; it can be straight or angled.

The complete dental implant

Prosthetic screw

Keeps the components on the implant stable and lets the dentist check and maintain them when needed.

Titanium implant post

An artificial tooth root placed in the jawbone to support the abutment and crown above.

Threaded implant surface

The threads increase the contact area and help the post integrate securely with the jawbone.

Who is a single implant suitable for?

Your dentist will examine you and take scans to find the right solution for your type of tooth loss.

4 benefits of a single implant

More stable chewing

The restoration is supported by implants in the jawbone, helping restore chewing force when properly indicated and cared for.

Helps preserve the jawbone

Chewing forces transmitted through the implant keep stimulating the area and slow bone loss.

A complete implant tooth in the Denture style

No grinding of neighboring teeth

An implant works independently and usually does not rely on neighboring natural teeth like a traditional bridge.

Natural look and easy hygiene

The porcelain crown is designed to match your arch, tooth color and bite; daily care is close to that of natural teeth.

What to know about single implant treatment

Following your dentist's personalized instructions helps treatment and healing go more smoothly.

Before implant surgery

  • Share your full health history: Tell your dentist about medical conditions, current medications, allergies and previous surgeries.

  • Check your mouth and jawbone: Treat infections, gum disease or active decay first; take X-rays as indicated to assess the bone.

  • Limit smoking and alcohol: Follow the timeline your dentist recommends, as these factors can affect healing.

  • Prepare mentally and plan your time: Eat, rest and take medication before the procedure as instructed; arrange for someone to accompany you if needed.

After implant surgery

  • Control bleeding and swelling: Bite on gauze, apply cold compresses and rest as instructed; avoid vigorous rinsing or touching the surgical area.

  • Take medication as prescribed: Do not increase, stop or add medication without consulting your treating dentist.

  • Soft foods at first: Choose soft, cool foods; avoid chewing on the surgical area and avoid very hot or hard foods.

  • Gentle oral hygiene: Brush and clean around the implant as instructed, and never touch the wound with sharp objects.

  • Attend follow-up visits on time: Contact the clinic promptly if you have prolonged bleeding, increasing pain or swelling, fever, unusual numbness or a loose restoration.

Frequently asked questions about single implants

Common questions before choosing a dental implant restoration.

Do the two neighboring teeth have to be ground down for a single implant?

Usually not. The implant supports an independent porcelain crown right where the tooth is missing.

Can an implant be placed right after an extraction?

Some suitable cases can receive an immediate implant. The dentist needs to check for infection, the bone walls, soft tissue and the expected stability of the implant.

Does the single implant price include the porcelain crown?

The implant price in the reference list does not include the crown on the implant. The final cost is confirmed once the implant line, abutment and crown type are chosen.

When can the porcelain crown be fitted?

It depends on bone quality and implant stability. The dentist will schedule impressions, try-in and fitting according to how osseointegration progresses.

What should I prepare before an implant consultation?

Note when you lost your teeth, any chewing difficulties, previous treatments and your goals. Bring old X-rays or records if you have them, along with a list of medications, medical conditions and allergies.

What does long-term care of an implant restoration involve?

Ask your dentist to show you how to clean around each implant and restoration with tools suited to your design. Keep the agreed check-up schedule and get in touch early if cleaning is difficult, you notice bleeding, a change in your bite or a loose restoration.
