What are All-on-4 dental implants?

All-on-4 uses two straight implants at the front and two angled implants at the back, as indicated, to support a fixed bridge. This layout is often considered when all teeth in an arch are missing and bone at the back is limited.
  • 4 implants support a fixed arch
  • Usually restores about 12 teeth
  • Temporary teeth possible depending on clinical conditions

Optimized number of implants

Four implant positions are calculated to distribute force and make use of suitable bone.

Less intervention at the back

Angled rear implants can avoid certain anatomical areas and reduce the need for bone grafting in suitable cases.

Fixed restoration

The bridge is screwed onto the implants and is more stable in daily life than a removable denture.

A clear plan for each stage

The dentist discusses temporary teeth, healing time, the final restoration and check-ups in advance.

Anatomy of an All-on-4 restoration

Three tightly connected components restore everything from root to crown.

Porcelain crown

The visible part of the tooth, designed to match the color, arch shape and aesthetic goals.

Shape and bite

The chewing surface, height and contour of the restoration are adjusted to your individual bite.

Abutment

The connector that links the porcelain crown to the implant post; it can be straight or angled.

Prosthetic screw

Keeps the components on the implant stable and lets the dentist check and maintain them when needed.

Titanium implant post

An artificial tooth root placed in the jawbone to support the abutment and crown above.

Threaded implant surface

The threads increase the contact area and help the post integrate securely with the jawbone.

Who is All-on-4 suitable for?

4 benefits of All-on-4 implants

A fixed full arch

One bridge supported on four implants that does not need to be taken out every day like a conventional denture.

Makes use of suitable bone

Implant angles are calculated from the CT 3D scan to make efficient use of the remaining bone.

A complete implant tooth in the Denture style

Better chewing and speech

A stable restoration makes biting, chewing, speaking and daily life more natural after an adjustment period.

An optimized cost plan

Fewer implants than All-on-6 while still aiming for a fixed full-arch restoration in suitable cases.

Frequently asked questions about All-on-4

Common questions before choosing a dental implant restoration.

Is All-on-4 suitable for everyone who has lost all their teeth?

No. The dentist needs to assess bone, bite, medical conditions, soft tissue and lifestyle habits before recommending it.

Will I have temporary teeth after All-on-4 surgery?

Many cases can have a temporary restoration, but its type and when it can bear load depend on the initial stability of the implants and the dentist's assessment. Temporary teeth help you go about daily life while waiting for the final restoration, but that does not mean you can chew as with finished teeth straight away.

How is All-on-4 different from All-on-6?

All-on-4 uses 4 implants to support an arch; All-on-6 adds two more, usually spreading force more widely when bone volume allows. What matters is not only the number of implants but also the support positions, restoration design and how easy it will be to clean.

Is the All-on-4 cost per arch or per implant?

Full-arch prices are shown per arch and by implant line. Bone grafting or additional treatment is only added when indicated.

What should I prepare before an implant consultation?

Note when you lost your teeth, any chewing difficulties, previous treatments and your goals. Bring old X-rays or records if you have them, along with a list of medications, medical conditions and allergies.

What does long-term care of an implant restoration involve?

Ask your dentist to show you how to clean around each implant and restoration with tools suited to your design. Keep the agreed check-up schedule and get in touch early if cleaning is difficult, you notice bleeding, a change in your bite or a loose restoration.
